Here is a brief list of facts and tips for the machinist apprenticeship program above:
You will be provided or directed to a list of participating employers and should expect to receive or be given directions to accessing the standards of apprenticeship.
You will be advised you must secure employment with a participating employer.
Employers have limited numbers of apprenticeship positions, which open up occasionally; employers often promote current employees into apprenticeship positions, so it is likely necessary to apply for an entry-level position.
Once selected as an apprentice, you will be referred to the Apprenticeship Committee for registration, information about apprenticeship classes and the rights and responsibilities of apprentices.
For the program listed above: Do consider asking for the job titles of entry level positions, and more importantly which employers train for which occupations. Also consider asking the apprenticeship program what type of work experience or schooling would enhance your chances of being hired.
